West Ham United has sacked head coach Nuno Espirito Santo after 14 months in charge, the club announced. The decision comes amid a disappointing start to the Championship season, with the team currently eighth in the league table, six points behind leaders Middlesbrough.
Nuno Espirito Santo, 52, took over in September 2025, overseeing West Ham's relegation from the Premier League last season. The team has secured only two wins in their last six games, including consecutive home losses to Southampton and West Bromwich Albion.
Assistant head coach Rui Pedro Silva and goalkeeper coach Rui Barbosa have also departed the club. Mark Noble, Steve Potts, and Gerard Prenderville will temporarily manage the team for their upcoming Championship match against Cardiff City.
A statement from West Ham United indicated that a review of the season's start led the board to believe a change was necessary to keep the club's objectives on track. "West Ham United would like to thank Nuno, Rui and Rui for their hard work and commitment during their time at the Club, and wish them all the very best for the future," the statement read. The club has begun the process of recruiting a new head coach.
