Despite a difficult first half of the season, San Francisco Giants pitcher Logan Webb and second baseman Luis Arraez have been selected to the National League All-Star team. This marks the Giants' sixth consecutive season with at least two All-Star representatives.

Manager Tony Vitello delivered the news to the team, acknowledging the rarity of such an honor for a team with the third-worst record in the National League. Webb earned his third consecutive All-Star selection, while Arraez received his fourth career nod.

Webb's selection came after a remarkable turnaround. He began the season with a 5.06 ERA and was placed on the injured list after his eighth start. However, he significantly improved his performance in June, allowing only three earned runs over five starts. He was named National League Pitcher of the Month for June and saw his ERA drop to 3.09 before a recent outing raised it to 3.66. Webb is only the fourth Giants pitcher, joining Juan Marichal, Tim Lincecum, and Madison Bumgarner, to be selected to three consecutive All-Star Games.

Arraez's inclusion highlighted his resurgence and improved defensive play. The second baseman, who joined the Giants without other teams offering him a chance to play the position, has transformed his defense with daily drills under the guidance of infield coach Ron Washington. Arraez's offensive numbers have also returned to form, with his batting average (.326), on-base percentage (.361), and slugging percentage (.465) reflecting his best performance since 2023. He was previously an All-Star in 2022 with the Twins, 2023 with the Marlins, and 2024 with the Padres.

"It means a lot, when you put in a lot of work," Arraez said of his selection. Webb expressed his admiration for Arraez's work ethic, stating, "Luis is probably one of the hardest workers I’ve been around."

The Giants, currently 15 games below .500, will be represented by Webb and Arraez at the 96th All-Star Game in Philadelphia. The midsummer classic coincides with the 250th anniversary of the United States' founding. The team's selection of two players follows a pattern seen in previous challenging seasons, such as 2017 when Buster Posey was the lone representative during a similarly poor first half. Despite the team's struggles, players like Casey Schmitt and Jung Hoo Lee were also noted as deserving candidates who narrowly missed selection.
