Pro Bowl defensive tackle Vita Vea has requested a trade from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and his agent indicated that a deal is highly probable.

According to agent Collin Roberts, a trade is "practically a guarantee at this point." Vea, who is entering the final year of his contract, has been participating in a "hold-in" during training camp, meaning he is present with the team but not taking part in practices or drills while his contract situation remains unresolved.

Vea reportedly favors joining a team in California or the Las Vegas Raiders, which has brought the Los Angeles Chargers into the discussion. The Chargers could benefit from Vea's presence to bolster their interior pass rush. Last season, the team ranked last in the NFL with only 41 pressures generated by interior linemen.

Vea, an elite run-stuffer and interior pocket-collapser, would address a clear need for the Chargers. However, the team's general manager, Joe Hortiz, is known for a conservative approach regarding major contracts and premium draft picks, which a trade for Vea would likely entail. Despite this, the Chargers possess the financial flexibility to absorb a significant contract.

Other potential landing spots mentioned for Vea include the San Francisco 49ers, Los Angeles Rams, and the Raiders. Vea's tenure with the Buccaneers appears to be nearing its conclusion, with his agent suggesting a trade is the most likely outcome.
