Former New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz believes Odell Beckham Jr. has earned a second opportunity with the team, commending his friend's courage and humility as he fights for a roster spot.
Beckham, who was a star with the Giants from 2014 to 2018, is attempting to make a comeback with his former team. Cruz, who was a mentor figure to Beckham during their time together in New York, expressed his support for Beckham's effort to "finish what he started" in 2014.
"No one really gets that opportunity to get another crack at it and come home and have that moment for themselves and for their career," Cruz told The Post. "So I commend him for having the courage to even do that and go there and humble himself to being the guy that’s further down in the depth chart and have to fight and scratch and claw and make his presence felt to a certain degree."
Cruz, a former Super Bowl champion and an undrafted free agent himself, identified with Beckham's determination to prove himself again. He watched Beckham's recent efforts against the Jets, cheering him on from Los Angeles.
