Verstappen Overtakes 100 Drivers in Exhibition Kart Race

Four-time Formula 1 world champion Max Verstappen completed an exhibition go-kart race at Silverstone by overtaking more than 100 amateur drivers in only 14 laps. The event, held at the grand prix circuit in Northamptonshire, gave Verstappen a maximum of 75 minutes and 35 laps to pass all competitors.

Verstappen, driving for Red Bull, found himself in 37th place by the end of a chaotic opening lap, which saw several drivers crash or spin out and briefly suspend racing. The Dutch driver, who had cautioned participants that "it's not a charity event," steadily climbed the order. By the start of lap six, he had reached 10th position, and by lap 10, he was in fourth.

At this point, the remaining drivers included Dutch F1 journalist Jacky Martens, Red Bull engine builder Lewis Osler, and YouTuber Zac Alsop. These three drivers were given an advantage of an extra 'fast lap' where they could cut a corner to prolong their time ahead of Verstappen. However, he eventually overtook all of them. Martens, who had secured pole position after qualifying, was the last driver to be passed. Verstappen finished the challenge with 40 minutes and 21 laps to spare.

Verstappen's racing career began in karting, and he has since secured four consecutive F1 world titles between 2021 and 2024.
