Christos Tzolis is rapidly emerging as a potential signing of the summer for Arsenal, with his early season performances drawing comparisons to former club great Alexis Sanchez. The Greek winger's directness and fearlessness in attack have impressed fans and put him in contention for a regular spot on the left flank, a position where Arsenal currently lacks a marquee name.

Tzolis, who previously did not make the grade at Norwich and moved to Arsenal from Club Bruges, has exceeded expectations. He contributed six goal involvements in six pre-season matches and continued that form into the current season. In a recent match against Coventry, his relentless pressure led to Arsenal's first goal. He tackled an opponent, leading to a pass that Kai Havertz converted. Minutes later, his cross resulted in Bukayo Saka scoring Arsenal's second goal.

Supporters have noted similarities between Tzolis and Alexis Sanchez, with the winger himself acknowledging admiration for the former Arsenal star, who wore the same No. 17 shirt. Tzolis identified Sanchez as a player he looked up to and sees some parallels in their styles. "Of course, I watched a lot of football and he was a top player for Arsenal, as a left winger always. He’s one of the players I looked up to when I was younger. And also, I see some similarities with him," Tzolis stated.

The 22-year-old winger's decisiveness in the final third has been a standout attribute, contrasting with the approach of teammate Gabriel Martinelli. While Martinelli can sometimes hesitate on the ball, Tzolis tends to make quick, effective decisions in attacking areas. This has led to speculation about Martinelli's future at the club. Martinelli was notably left out of the squad for the recent match against Coventry, having also been omitted from the Community Shield game against Manchester City.

Fans are already comparing him to Alexis Sanchez, who he admires... and he even has the same shirt number!

Reports suggest Arsenal has been open to offers for Martinelli since last summer. While the Brazilian is reportedly opposed to a move to Galatasaray, which has shown interest, his continued absence from the squad could indicate a potential transfer before the end of the transfer window.

If Tzolis can maintain his current level of performance, he could prove to be a significant bargain for Arsenal.
