Milwaukee Bucks guard Tyler Herro stated he wishes to move past a reported physical altercation with his former Miami Heat teammate Bam Adebayo. The incident allegedly occurred last week during the NBA summer league in Las Vegas.
"Honestly, I'm just trying to move past all of it," Herro told ESPN's Shams Charania. "I'm focused on Milwaukee and building something special. They obviously just traded the greatest player in their history, so we want to come in and help continue what they've been doing."
Adebayo reportedly approached Herro on a practice court to confront him about a social media post. The two had played together for seven years in Miami before Herro was traded to the Bucks in exchange for Giannis Antetokounmpo earlier this month. Herro had previously shared a graphic on social media depicting Adebayo and Antetokounmpo as the NBA's two worst mid-range shooters.
According to ESPN, Adebayo reacted by knocking Herro to the ground. Bystanders reportedly prevented Herro from retaliating. Details of the exchange between the two former teammates remain unclear.
Herro, who was born and raised in Milwaukee, expressed enthusiasm about returning to his hometown. "I'm ready to come home and not prove everyone wrong, but just be able to represent the city and the state because I wanted to do that coming out of school as well," he said.
Despite the recent incident, Herro indicated that his feelings toward his former team and city remain positive. "It's all love in Miami," Herro told Amazon Prime. "We're all good in Miami, and an opportunity for both sides to reset and get a fresh start. We're both super happy for this. It's part of the business."
Herro acknowledged the business aspect of the NBA, stating, "A place like Miami, and organization like Miami, they wanted championships, they play for championships, and it's part of the business. I know how good I am, and what I'm capable of. And I just got to continue to keep working and try to stay healthy and just represent this new team how I'm supposed to."
The Heat finished 10th in the Eastern Conference last season, making the play-in tournament. The Bucks finished 11th, missing the postseason for the first time in a decade.
