England manager Thomas Tuchel engaged in a heated post-match interview after the Three Lions secured a place in the World Cup semifinals with a 2-1 extra-time victory over Norway. The coach expressed dissatisfaction with his team's performance, even as they advanced.

Following the match, Tuchel was interviewed by ITV's Gabriel Clarke and stated, "We made life very, very difficult for ourselves today. The result is fantastic, we're in the last four, it's amazing. But I'm not happy with the performance."

Tuchel described his team as "sloppy" and prone to "a lot of technical mistakes." When Clarke pressed him on whether these issues stemmed from a "mentality" problem, Tuchel became animated. "This is pure mentality. How can you ask about mentality now? This is pure mentality, it's not about mentality," he responded. He further elaborated, "There's no mentality problem! This is pure mentality. You can bottle it up and sell it… it's the quality of our games."

The German coach did acknowledge the positive impact of substitutes Reece James, Morgan Rogers, and Ebereche Eze but reiterated the need for improved play.

Jude Bellingham, who scored a brace in the match, also commented on the performance after hearing Tuchel's assessment. "Yeah well, whatever. It's difficult out there, it's a tough shift," Bellingham said. "All the players have put in a very tough shift."

England struggled for large parts of the match against Norway, with their opponents controlling the second half and hitting the crossbar in the 80th minute. The team also appeared affected by the halftime departure of Declan Rice, who was reportedly ill leading up to the game.

Despite these challenges, England has advanced to their fourth World Cup semifinal. They will face Argentina, who defeated Switzerland 3-1 in their quarterfinal match, on Wednesday at 3 p.m. in Atlanta.
