Travis Kelce has officially returned to the football field, reporting to Kansas City Chiefs training camp on Wednesday morning. The tight end is preparing for his 14th NFL season after an offseason that included his marriage to singer Taylor Swift.
Kelce was seen entering the Chiefs' training facility in St. Joseph, Missouri, dressed in red practice gear. Footage shared on social media captured the 36-year-old veteran making his way to camp, with fans expressing excitement for his return. "Living the dream, baby," Kelce was heard saying in one video as he greeted fans.
The star tight end rejoined quarterback Patrick Mahomes on the field as training camp commenced. Kelce, a three-time Super Bowl champion, aims to lead the Chiefs toward another championship following the previous season.
In separate news concerning the Chiefs' coaching staff, offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy will not be present at training camp. This follows an incident where his wife, Mia Bieniemy, was reportedly shot by their son, Elijah. According to NBC Washington, she required surgery for a gunshot wound to the left forearm and shoulder that moved across her chest, and fragments of the bullet remain. Neighbors reported hearing gunshots and screams, with police seen entering the Bieniemy home and carrying an injured woman from the residence. Elijah Bieniemy, 27, is in police custody without bond, with his first court hearing scheduled for August 31. Mia Bieniemy is reported to be in stable condition.
Kelce had previously expressed enthusiasm for Bieniemy's return to Kansas City on his podcast, "New Heights." "I love that [he's returning to Kansas City]," Kelce stated. "I think it's great. I think it's a marriage that's gonna pick up right where it left off." He added, "I can't wait to see him back in the building, man. He's one of my favorite coaches of all time, one of my favorite people of all time."
