The Tennessee Titans have made starting guard Peter Skoronski the highest-paid player at his position in the NFL, announcing a four-year contract extension.
The deal is reportedly worth $100 million, with $88 million guaranteed, according to ESPN. This extension elevates Skoronski, who just turned 25, to an average annual value of $25 million, making him one of the Titans' highest-paid players.
Skoronski, a key player in the Titans' ongoing rebuild, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to remain with the organization. "This is a tremendous blessing. It's a reflection of the work, sacrifice and support that has helped me get to this point, and I don't take any of it for granted," Skoronski said in a statement. "Thank you to Ms. Amy, Mike Borgonzi and Coach Saleh for believing in me. From the moment I got here, this is where I wanted to be. I love this organization, I love this city, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to continue representing this franchise."
The new contract begins in 2028, following the final year of his previous deal in 2026 and an option for 2027, according to Spotrac. This agreement comes shortly after Atlanta Falcons guard Matthew Bergeron signed a four-year deal worth $96 million.
Tennessee drafted Skoronski 11th overall in the 2023 NFL Draft following a decorated college career at Northwestern, where he was recognized as an All-American and the Big Ten Offensive Lineman of the Year in 2022. Since entering the league, Skoronski has started all 48 games he has appeared in and has missed only three games. He has developed into a significant interior blocker for the Titans, although he has yet to be selected to a Pro Bowl.
Skoronski's extension coincides with the team's efforts to improve after a 3-14 record last season. The Titans, now led by head coach Robert Saleh, last made the playoffs in 2021. The team also added quarterback Cam Ward with the first overall pick in the 2025 draft as part of their rebuilding strategy. The Titans will open their preseason schedule against the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday, August 13, and begin their regular season Week 1 hosting the New York Jets on September 13.
