Three fans were tackled by security after storming the field during the fifth inning of the Yankees-Mariners game on Wednesday at Yankee Stadium. The incident caused a brief delay in the game, which the Yankees were trailing 5-1 at the time.
The spectators reportedly hopped over a wall and ran into right field, attempting to reach center field before security personnel intervened. One of the fans was shirtless and required multiple security officials to restrain him on the ground. Another fan was apprehended near the warning track, while a third was quickly escorted away.
The disruption occurred after Yankees pitcher Will Warren struggled, allowing three home runs before being removed from the game. Reliever Fernando Cruz then allowed two batters to reach base, including an RBI single, before the fans entered the field.
Following the interruption, Tim Hill entered the game for the Yankees and induced an inning-ending double play. The Yankees then rallied in the bottom of the fifth inning, with Trent Grisham hitting a home run and Ben Rice and Spencer Jones adding consecutive doubles, to tie the game.
