Wales head coach Steve Tandy described himself as "bitterly disappointed" after his team concluded their season with a 43-0 hammering by South Africa in Durban. This marked another scoreless outing for Wales against the Springboks, who secured the Nations Championship title with the victory.
South Africa, the reigning world champions, had previously defeated Wales 73-0 in November, a match where Wales conceded 11 tries and suffered their most significant home defeat. While not as dominant in the return fixture, the Springboks still managed to score seven tries through Jasper Wiese, Cobus Reinach, Jesse Kriel, Jaco Williams, Herschel Jantjies, Kurt-Lee Arendse, and Paul de Villiers.
Tandy acknowledged the effort of his players, stating they "stayed in the fight for large parts of the game." He added, "There's massive pride in our players, how hard they work and the effort they put in, up against the world champions."
Despite commending the team's commitment, the final scoreline underscored a challenging end to the season for the Welsh side against a formidable opponent.
