Stefon Diggs, a four-time Pro Bowl wide receiver, has joined the Washington Commanders, bringing his signature confidence and a strong belief in his own abilities to his new team. As he enters his 12th NFL season, Diggs, who signed as a free agent, stated his conviction that he remains the league's premier wide receiver.

"I say two on camera," Diggs said, referencing his previous public statement about being the best No. 2 receiver in the NFL. "But in my heart, I’m going to say No. 1."

Despite moving to his third team in as many seasons, Diggs anticipates making a significant impact with the Commanders. Head coach Dan Quinn expressed enthusiasm about the acquisition, stating, "This just made a lot of sense for us. We’re just pumped."

At 32 years old, Diggs is determined to demonstrate that age has not affected his performance. He is coming off his seventh 1,000-yard receiving season in eight years, having recorded 1,013 yards on 85 catches with four touchdowns in the 2025 season with his previous team. His career total stands at 11,504 receiving yards, placing him 38th in NFL history. He is also nearing 1,000 career receptions, a milestone achieved by only 18 players.

The Commanders see Diggs as an opportunity to bolster their offense. The team already features Terry McLaurin as a primary receiver and is building around quarterback Jayden Daniels, who is aiming for a strong 2026 season after an injury-affected previous year. Diggs stated his intention to be a productive contributor and a positive influence.

Diggs also expressed a sense of full-circle closure, having grown up in the Washington D.C. area and feeling overlooked by local teams like the Commanders and Baltimore Ravens during his college career. "I always felt like I had something to prove my hometown team, them and the Baltimore Ravens," he said. "I always played with a chip on my shoulder, but the chip got really big when I went home because I always felt like they passed up on me. I was right in their backyard. So it’s a full-circle moment."
