Shohei Ohtani has been selected to his sixth MLB All-Star Game, earning the starting designated hitter position for the National League. The announcement came Thursday after Ohtani secured the most votes of any National League player in the initial round of fan balloting, guaranteeing him an automatic spot in the July 16 game in Philadelphia.
Ohtani received over 3.3 million fan selections, surpassing all other National League players and also outpolling the top American League vote-getter, Toronto Blue Jays infielder Ernie Clement. This marks Ohtani's sixth career All-Star selection and his third consecutive appearance as a Dodger, extending a streak that began during his MVP season with the Los Angeles Angels in 2021.
The Dodgers could have a significant representation at the All-Star Game, with six other Dodgers players advancing to the second round of voting. These players include catcher Will Smith, first baseman Freddie Freeman, third baseman Max Muncy, shortstop Mookie Betts, and outfielders Andy Pages and Teoscar Hernández. Pitchers Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Justin Wrobleski are also potential candidates for the team.
The full rosters for the 2026 MLB All-Star Game are scheduled to be announced next week.
