Serena Williams's participation in the Wimbledon doubles alongside her sister Venus is uncertain due to a knee injury sustained during her singles comeback match.
The Williams sisters, who have won six Wimbledon doubles titles together, were scheduled to compete as a pair for the first time since 2022 on Friday. However, Serena Williams's knee swelled up following her singles defeat to Australia's Maya Joint on Tuesday, casting doubt on her ability to play.
The 23-time Grand Slam singles champion did not speak to the media after her singles match. Wimbledon organizers stated that she was "not able to undertake" her media duties.
"Serena tweaked her right knee at the end of the first set and was therefore excused from her media obligations by the Wimbledon and WTA medical teams," said her agent, Jill Smoller. "She left site that night unaided and is doing everything she can to be ready for her doubles match later this week."
