Despite not securing a tournament victory since January, World Number One Scottie Scheffler continues to demonstrate dominance on the PGA Tour, leading the FedEx Cup season-long rankings by a significant margin.

Scheffler's performance has been marked by a series of near misses, including five runner-up finishes this season, a rarity for golfers in the last 40 years. He has also placed third twice and has finished within the top five in 11 of his 17 starts in 2026. This consistent high-level play has earned him 795 more points than his closest competitor in the FedEx Cup standings.

"I think I've been really close to winning some tournaments and that can be frustrating," Scheffler stated before the Scottish Open. "At the same time, I've had some good results - a fourth and a second are not bad results by any means. Margins in golf are really small and I just keep trying to do my best."

Scheffler's impressive season-long performance has further solidified his position as the top-ranked golfer in the Official World Golf Rankings. The gap between Scheffler and second-placed Rory McIlroy is comparable to the gap between McIlroy and Matt McCarty, who is ranked 67th. Scheffler has held the world number one spot since May 21, 2023, and with his current form, unseating him from this position appears unlikely in the near future. For comparison, Tiger Woods' unbroken record at No. 1 stands at 281 weeks, a mark Scheffler is still more than two years away from surpassing.
