Scottie Scheffler has ascended to the top of the PGA Tour's all-time career earnings list following his victory at the Tour Championship on Sunday. The win, his third of the season, earned him $10 million and pushed his career total to $130,390,661, surpassing Tiger Woods's nearly $121 million.

Woods, who had held the record since February 2000, congratulated Scheffler on social media, acknowledging his "historic season" with "three wins, five runner-ups and finishing the season No. 1."

Scheffler's celebration was notably low-key. He informed reporters that his plan was to have a beer, a beverage he noted he doesn't consume often. This simple celebration caught his wife, Meredith, and his manager by surprise, as they commented on how infrequently he drinks.

"The season's over now, I'm going to have a beer; a well-earned beer," Scheffler said.

This past season, Scheffler accumulated $30.9 million in earnings. While he secured victories at The American Express and the FedEx St. Jude Championship prior to the Tour Championship, he experienced a streak of near misses throughout the regular season. He finished as the runner-up at the Masters, the Cadillac Championship at Doral, and the 3M Open, and lost in playoffs at Harbour Town and the Travelers Championship. Additional strong performances included top-three finishes at the WM Phoenix Open and the Byron Nelson, and top-five showings at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am, the U.S. Open, and The Open Championship.

Scheffler acknowledged the challenges of his season, particularly the difficult starts to some tournaments. "I'm very proud of fighting back and having some good finishes and even giving myself some chances to win with some of those poor starts," he stated. "Overall just continued to battle, like you said, day in and day out. It's something that I'm very proud of."
