Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley has joined the chorus of voices attempting to recruit LeBron James to the 76ers. Barkley stated on Thursday that if James wishes to conclude his career with a significant impact, Philadelphia would be an ideal location.
"If you want to go out with a bang, I feel like a great spot would be in Philly and bring a championship to Philadelphia," Barkley told reporters. "You’ll be remembered forever."
Barkley, who joined the Eagles in 2024, has previously expressed admiration for Philadelphia's passionate fanbase. He described them as "crazy, but in a different way," contrasting their enthusiasm with his experience as a player for the New York Giants.
Since arriving in Philadelphia, Barkley has been a prominent player for the Eagles, accumulating 3,145 rushing yards and 30 rushing touchdowns over two seasons. He earned his first All-Pro honors during the 2024 season.
Barkley is among several notable figures in sports and entertainment actively encouraging James to consider their respective cities for what might be his final NBA season. James, 41, is currently a free agent after an eight-season tenure with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Reports suggest James is considering multiple teams, with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, and 76ers identified as frontrunners, according to ESPN's Shams Chariana. James is entering his 24th season since being drafted by the Cavaliers in 2003.
