New Orleans Saints defensive tackle Bryan Bresee is believed to have suffered a torn ACL, a devastating injury that would likely end his 2026 season before it truly began. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported the news on Wednesday.
Medical tests are ongoing to confirm the extent of the injury. It remains unclear when Bresee sustained the injury. He was not on the field for the Saints' last 11-on-11 period, according to The Times-Picayune/The New Orleans Advocate.
Bresee, a first-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, has been a significant contributor for the Saints since entering the league. He has started at least 10 games in each of the previous two seasons and has accumulated 14.5 sacks in 49 career games.
He is currently under contract with the Saints, with the team having picked up his fifth-year option for 2027. If the injury is confirmed as a torn ACL, it would open up increased opportunities for defensive linemen Vernon Broughton and Christen Miller.
