Elena Rybakina has ended Coco Gauff's run at the U.S. Open, defeating the defending champion 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 in a thrilling semifinal match at Arthur Ashe Stadium on Thursday night. The loss prevents Gauff from securing another Grand Slam title this year.
Rybakina, the No. 2 seed, will advance to face the top seed in the U.S. Open final. This matchup sets up a potential rematch of a previous Grand Slam final, as Rybakina previously defeated Aryna Sabalenka in the Australian Open final earlier this year.
The semifinal match saw Gauff win the first set, but Rybakina rallied to take the subsequent two sets to clinch the victory.
