Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts has invited Don Mattingly, the current interim manager for the Philadelphia Phillies, to serve as an honorary coach for the 2026 Major League Baseball All-Star Game.
The Midsummer Classic is scheduled to be held in Philadelphia. Mattingly will join the National League coaching staff, which will also include the Dodgers’ full coaching staff and St. Louis Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol.
Mattingly previously managed the Dodgers from 2011 to 2015. During his tenure, the team faced financial challenges due to owner Frank McCourt's divorce proceedings but still achieved winning seasons. Mattingly led the Dodgers to three consecutive playoff appearances, a franchise first, before being succeeded by Roberts in 2015. Roberts has since guided the Dodgers to multiple World Series titles and National League pennants.
Roberts is currently in his 11th season as the Dodgers' manager, with the team aiming for a third consecutive World Series championship. Shohei Ohtani has already been named the National League's designated hitter for the upcoming All-Star Game, with other Dodgers players like Andy Pages, Will Smith, and Max Muncy also being potential selections.
