Los Angeles Rams safety Quentin Lake has added his voice to the growing criticism of Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert, likening his passes to "deli meat" after intercepting him during the Rams’ victory over the Chargers.
Herbert has faced increased scrutiny this season for his performance, which has included a higher number of interceptions than touchdowns. During the Rams' 24-9 win against the winless Chargers, Lake picked off a pass from Herbert and later commented on the play during an appearance on the "St. Brown Podcast."
"I mean, [Herbert] was throwing deli meat out there. He’s seeing ghosts, I’m not going to lie," Lake said, adding, "Bro, I don’t know what’s going on, but we knew we were getting a couple."
This is not the first time Herbert's passing has been compared to food. Earlier in the season, former NFL quarterback Tom Brady accused Herbert of throwing a "meatball sub" during a broadcast of a Chargers game.
Herbert has thrown five touchdown passes against 10 interceptions this season. His struggles have made him a frequent subject of jokes and criticism from fans and media alike. Lake's comments on a public podcast highlight the increasing frustration with the Chargers' performance and their quarterback's play.
