Harry Kane, the Ballon d'Or winner, has extended his contract with Bayern Munich until 2029, a move that is expected to make him Europe's highest-paid footballer. The new deal signifies a significant commitment to the German club, quashing any immediate hopes of a return to the Premier League for the England captain.
Since joining Bayern from Tottenham Hotspur in 2023 for £86 million, Kane has established a prolific scoring record, netting 156 goals in 161 appearances. He was entering the final six months of his previous contract, leading to widespread speculation about his future.
Kane has achieved considerable success since moving to Germany, securing two Bundesliga titles, a DFB Cup, and two German Super Cups. He also led England to their best World Cup finish since 1966, scoring six goals in seven matches during the recent tournament.
"I feel right at home at FC Bayern," Kane stated following the contract announcement. "I love the club, the fans and the city of Munich. We have a fantastic team and, in Vincent Kompany, a fantastic manager. It makes me very proud to be part of this club."
He added, "My whole family is very happy here. I was keen to stay. I’m now looking forward to the future and I want to win many more titles with this great club."
Beyond his club achievements, Kane is on the verge of becoming England's all-time leading appearance holder. He is also the nation's record goalscorer, having netted 91 times for the Three Lions.
Individually, Kane has also earned accolades at Bayern, topping the Bundesliga scoring charts in both of his seasons and twice winning the Golden Shoe as Europe's leading striker. The announcement confirms his intention to remain a key figure in European football for at least the next five years.
