The Los Angeles Rams will be without cornerback Jaylen Watson for the rest of the season, as he requires shoulder surgery, head coach Sean McVay confirmed Wednesday.

"Unfortunately, Jaylen Watson has to get surgery on his shoulder. He will be out for the year. That’s a big one," McVay said. "He’s been such a stud for us. He wanted to be able to play through it, but just understanding the totality of it all and some of the different things, it was recommended that he get that surgery."

Watson aggravated a dislocated right shoulder he initially suffered against the Denver Broncos earlier this season during the Rams’ victory over the Los Angeles Chargers last Sunday. He will be placed on injured reserve for the remainder of the year.

Watson, who signed a three-year, $51 million contract this offseason, is considered one of the Rams’ most talented defensive backs. McVay indicated that the team might explore adding a cornerback before the NFL trade deadline on November 10th.
