Las Vegas Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty left practice with an apparent knee injury two weeks before the start of the new NFL season. Jeanty, the Raiders' sixth overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft, reportedly landed awkwardly while diving to make a catch.
According to ESPN, the 22-year-old was unable to put weight on his right leg as he was helped off the field. The team knelt in prayer as they awaited further information on his condition. The Raiders, co-owned by Tom Brady, are scheduled to open their season against the Miami Dolphins on September 13.
Jeanty, a former star at Boise State, is slated to be the starter in a running back group that also includes Mike Washington Jr., Dylan Laube, and Roman Hemby. A significant knee injury for Jeanty would be a considerable setback for the Raiders' offense as the team works to rebuild under new head coach Klint Kubiak.
