Pro Bowl running back Miles Sanders was arrested on charges of driving under the influence in June, according to court records. Sanders, who last played for the Dallas Cowboys in 2025, faces a preliminary hearing on Sept. 23 for careless driving and DUI.
Officers responded to a report of a vehicle stopped in the middle of William Penn Highway in Churchill Borough, Pennsylvania, and found Sanders slumped over in the driver's seat of his Lexus. According to a criminal complaint obtained by CBS News, Sanders was unable to answer officers' questions and appeared to be "in and out of consciousness" and "extremely lethargic."
Sanders admitted to drinking earlier in the day, and officers noted the smell of alcohol on his breath, glossy eyes, and a positive result on a portable breath test. Marijuana was also found in the vehicle, according to CBS News.
Sanders, a Pittsburgh native, played college football at Penn State before being drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He spent his first four seasons with the Eagles, earning a Pro Bowl selection in 2022 after rushing for 1,269 yards and 11 touchdowns. He later signed with the Carolina Panthers and then the Dallas Cowboys, but his recent seasons were hampered by injuries.
In 88 career games, Sanders has accumulated 4,462 rushing yards and 24 touchdowns, along with 183 receptions for 1,274 yards and four touchdowns.
