A Premier League linesman has reportedly been suspended pending an investigation into allegations of inappropriate behavior with a woman. Simon Bennett, a married official who earns £110,000 annually, has not officiated any matches this season.

An investigation was launched after concerns were raised regarding Bennett's conduct. A source indicated that Bennett has deactivated his social media accounts since his suspension.

The body overseeing elite referees in England, Pro Ref (formerly PGMOL), has declined to comment. The Football Association has also been contacted.

Bennett, 41, last served as a linesman during a Premier League match on the final day of the previous season. He has been a fixture in the Premier League since 2011 and previously worked as a teacher. Bennett has also held FIFA official status since 2013, participating in events such as the European Championships in 2021 and the FA Cup final.
