Jasmine Paolini has reached the Wimbledon quarter-finals after defeating Alexandra Eala in a demanding three-set match. The victory halts the historic run of Eala, who had become the first player from the Philippines to reach the fourth round of a Grand Slam in the Open era.

Paolini secured her spot in the last eight with a 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 win over the resilient Eala. The match was a testament to Paolini's determination, as she navigated a tough contest to advance.

This marks Paolini's first Grand Slam quarter-final appearance since reaching back-to-back finals at the French Open and Wimbledon in 2024. Her previous success at the All England Club saw her become a crowd favorite, ultimately finishing as runner-up.

Paolini, the 14th seed, has been managing a foot injury this year but celebrated her win with evident joy. She described her positive outlook as her "superpower" after the match.

"It was really tough, a rollercoaster. 2026 proved a lot to me," Paolini stated. "There were tough moments but I kept working. Every day I'm feeling better, I feel in the right way when I compete on court again. I love what I do but I have to enjoy it - it's my superpower."
