The Baltimore Orioles halted the Boston Red Sox's franchise record-tying 15-game winning streak with a 5-1 victory in the second game of a Wednesday doubleheader. The loss was Boston's first since July 1, ending a streak that matched the club's longest run set 80 years prior.

The Orioles' win prevented a three-game sweep and marked their 11th victory in the last 16 games. Baltimore’s Dylan Beavers drove in two runs with a single in a four-run first inning. Masataka Yoshida recorded an RBI single for the Red Sox.

Kyle Bradish, making his first start since signing a $90 million, five-year contract, pitched six innings of one-run ball for Baltimore. The 29-year-old right-hander allowed four hits, struck out four, and issued one walk. Three Orioles relievers combined to allow just one hit.

In the day's opener, the Red Sox secured a 6-3 win to tie their club record for consecutive victories. The 1946 Red Sox team, led by Ted Williams, also won 15 straight games and went on to win the American League pennant.

This year's 15-game streak for Boston was the longest in Major League Baseball since the St. Louis Cardinals won 15 consecutive games in September 2021.

After the Red Sox took a 4-0 lead in the first game, the Orioles responded quickly. Baltimore knocked out Red Sox starter Eduardo Rivera, who retired only two batters, with their four runs in the first inning. The first run scored on a wild pitch by Rivera, followed by Beavers' two-run single, and Johnathan Rodriguez's double off the Green Monster.

The Orioles' seven-game winning streak earlier in the series was halted on Monday, and a rainout occurred Tuesday.

The Orioles are scheduled to open a series at home against Atlanta on Friday, with their starting pitcher yet to be announced. The Red Sox will host the last-place Toronto Blue Jays for a three-game series beginning Friday.
