Ryan O'Hearn made Pirates history on July 7, 2026, by driving in 10 runs, the most by any player in a single game this season, in the Pirates' 12-4 win against the Atlanta Braves. O'Hearn also hit three home runs during the game at PNC Park, becoming the 11th player in MLB history to achieve both a three-homer game and 10 RBIs.
"Never. Never 10 RBIs, never hit three home runs in my life," O'Hearn told reporters after the game. "Hit two [home runs] many times in high school and all that and college, but never three. So, today’s the day I’ll remember forever."
O'Hearn, who signed a two-year, $29 million contract with the Pirates in the previous offseason, opened the scoring in the first inning with a grand slam that gave the Pirates a 4-1 lead. He extended the lead in the third inning with a three-run home run, bringing his RBI total to seven. He completed his historic night in the sixth inning with his third three-run homer, pushing the Pirates' lead to 10-2.
The first baseman received a curtain call from the home crowd after his third home run. "Yeah it’s another first. Never had a curtain call before," O'Hearn said. "Always said I’m not going to do it unless they really want it. I feel like there’s nothing worse than popping out for a curtain call and it was just like, ‘Couple fans wanted it.’ Really cool to do it, have a game like this at home and get to have a curtain call and celebrate with the fans. So, really special."
O'Hearn's game bat has been added to the Pirates Legacy Hall at PNC Park, and his helmet will be sent to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, N.Y. His season RBI total increased from 51 to 61, and his batting average is now .293, which would be a career-high. The Pirates won their third consecutive game, improving their record to 47-45 and closing the gap in the National League Wild Card race.
