Nick Kyrgios has been provisionally suspended from tennis after testing positive for cocaine. The International Tennis Integrity Agency stated that Kyrgios submitted a sample on June 22 during the Mallorca Open, which later revealed the presence of benzoylecgonine, a metabolite of cocaine. The provisional suspension began on August 4.

Kyrgios, who was formerly ranked world number 13, has the option to appeal the provisional suspension but has not yet done so, according to the agency. In a statement posted on Instagram, Kyrgios acknowledged making "a huge mistake" and stated that he takes "full responsibility" for his actions.

The suspension prohibits Kyrgios from participating in, coaching at, or attending any Grand Slams or events sanctioned by the men's and women's professional tennis tours. The 31-year-old has competed in only four singles matches this season, largely due to ongoing knee and wrist injuries in recent years. His last appearance was in the men's doubles at Wimbledon, where he and his partner Alexander Bublik were eliminated in the first round.
