Nic Nemeth captured the TNA World Championship on Sunday at Slammiversary, defeating Mike Santana in the event's main event. This victory marks Nemeth's second reign as the TNA World Champion.
Santana had held the championship for nearly a year heading into the match. Nemeth's brother, Ryan Nemeth, was present and involved in a distraction that led to his own ejection from ringside early in the bout. During the confusion, Nic Nemeth used the Call Your Shot Gauntlet trophy to strike Santana, who was seen bleeding from the head following the impact.
The match saw back-and-forth action, with Santana countering Nemeth's initial offense. Despite Nemeth's superkicks and a Danger Zone maneuver, Santana managed to kick out. However, Santana eventually began to tire. After kicking out of Nemeth's latest combination, Santana fell into Nemeth's arms, allowing Nemeth to hit another Danger Zone for the pinfall victory.
Nemeth's previous TNA World Championship reign began at Slammiversary in 2024, where he defeated Moose, Josh Alexander, Steve Maclin, Frankie Kazarian, and Joe Hendry. With the win, Nemeth reclaims the top spot on the TNA roster, and a rematch with Santana is anticipated, particularly with the Lockdown event approaching.
