NFL RedZone will feature fewer 15-second commercials in the upcoming season, host Scott Hanson announced this week. While the show added commercials for the first time last season, Hanson stated that the number of these specific ad spots will be reduced, aiming to largely maintain the viewing experience fans were accustomed to before their introduction.

Fans expressed significant backlash last year when NFL RedZone, a program that had famously been commercial-free since its inception, began incorporating advertisements. Hanson, who has hosted the show since 2009, acknowledged these concerns and assured viewers that the priority remains on delivering game action.

"Our promise to you is we never miss a touchdown," Hanson said. "We only sneak these in when the team is walking back to the huddle during at least a little bit of a dead period in the game, and it’s one 15-second standalone commercial at a time."

Hanson clarified that sponsored segments, such as the "Mercedes-Benz Drive of the Day" and "Allstate Good Hands Play of the Day," are distinct from traditional commercials and will continue to be part of the broadcast. He encouraged fans to tune in this season, suggesting the experience will align with what they loved about the show prior to the addition of standalone commercials.

Last year, prior to the start of the 2025 NFL season, Hanson addressed fan concerns in a video post, emphasizing his limited control over business decisions while reaffirming his dedication to showcasing as much football as possible. He stated that his role as host focuses on making the broadcast engaging and informative, and that his personal desire is to show viewers more football.
