The Brooklyn Nets suffered another frustrating defeat against the New York Knicks, losing 103-90 after squandering a fourth-quarter lead at Madison Square Garden. This loss extended the Nets' losing streak in the series to a record 15 consecutive games.

Brooklyn appeared poised for a significant upset, holding a four-point lead in the early minutes of the fourth quarter. The team had shown a marked improvement from previous encounters, contrasting sharply with their dominant losses to the Knicks last season. Michael Porter Jr. scored 18 points with four three-pointers, Julius Randle contributed 21 points and 11 rebounds, and Nolan Traore added 17 points. Traore also recorded a chase-down block on Jalen Brunson.

However, the momentum shifted dramatically as the Knicks unleashed a decisive 16-2 run in the fourth quarter. The Nets managed only 11 points in the final period, marking a season low and sealing their fate.

"We played great for, if my math is correct, 39 minutes, and then the last nine were not good enough," said Nets head coach Jordi Fernández. "I’m asking these guys to play as hard as they can, and the last two games they’ve done it."

Fernández acknowledged the positives from the game, stating, "There’s a lot of positives in this game to just throw everything out of the window and just think that we did[n’t do] good things."

The Nets' last victory against the Knicks occurred nearly four years ago. On January 28, 2023, Brooklyn secured its ninth consecutive win over New York with a 122-115 victory. That Nets team was led by stars Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, a stark contrast to the current roster. Only a few players from either team on Monday were present for that game, highlighting the shift in the rivalry's dynamics.
