Myles Gaskin has announced his retirement from the National Football League after seven seasons. The 29-year-old running back shared his decision on social media Thursday.

"Football…there will never be enough words to explain how I feel about you, so I won’t even try," Gaskin wrote in his post. "What I will do is give all the game you gave me to the next generation of young players who dare to be great. Thank you. It’s been real."

Gaskin's final NFL appearance was with the Seattle Seahawks during their 2025 Super Bowl-winning season. In that single game, he had three offensive snaps for six yards and five special teams snaps.

A native of Lynnwood, Washington, Gaskin played college football at the University of Washington. In 2015, he became the first true freshman running back in school history to rush for over 1,000 yards, finishing that season with 1,302 yards on 227 carries.

The Miami Dolphins selected Gaskin in the seventh round of the 2019 NFL Draft. He spent four seasons with the Dolphins, eventually earning a starting role. His most productive season came in 2021, when he recorded 612 rushing yards on 173 carries with three touchdowns, and added 49 receptions for 234 yards and four touchdowns. He played a versatile role in the Dolphins' running back-by-committee system during his early years.

Gaskin signed a one-year contract extension with the Dolphins in 2023 but was released before the regular season began. He subsequently moved around the league, signing with the Minnesota Vikings, then joining the Los Angeles Rams' practice squad before being released. He later returned to the Vikings, spent time with the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2024, and was with the Baltimore Ravens in 2025 before joining the Seahawks in October of that year.

Myles Gaskin, No. 33 of the Seattle Seahawks, looks on before a game.

Over his NFL career, Gaskin accumulated 1,360 rushing yards and 712 receiving yards, with a total of 13 touchdowns. He also was part of the Seahawks' Super Bowl-winning team in 2025.
