Mustafa Ali has once again become the TNA International Champion, defeating Jason Hotch in a cage match at Total Nonstop Action Wrestling's Lockdown event on Aug. 23, 2026. Ali secured the victory with his signature 450 splash.
The championship bout was a continuation of a personal feud, stemming from Hotch's brief reign as champion after initially defeating Ali. The rivalry escalated when Ali took a stuffed animal belonging to Hotch's daughter during the match, threatening to set it on fire. Hotch intervened, allowing Ali to gain a strategic advantage.
A Memorable High-Risk Maneuver
While Ali ultimately retained the title, Jason Hotch provided the match's most spectacular moment. After a prolonged battle outside the cage, Hotch climbed to the top of the structure. Ali followed, but Hotch executed a crossbody block, sending both wrestlers crashing through a table positioned below. Despite the dramatic impact, the maneuver was not enough to secure the championship for Hotch.
Ali's victory marks the beginning of his second reign as International Champion. He had previously held the title for 110 days before losing it to Hotch earlier in the summer.
