A raucous celebration by Mexican soccer fans during a World Cup match reportedly generated enough ground movement to trigger local seismic monitoring equipment. The incident occurred at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City.

During the Round of 32 knockout match, fans erupted when forward Julian Quiñones scored the opening goal in the 22nd minute. According to reports, the intensity of the celebration caused an "artificial seismic signal" to be registered by monitoring agencies. Later, in the 31st minute, Raul Jimenez scored Mexico's second goal, contributing to the decisive 2-0 victory over Ecuador and advancing the team to the Round of 16.

This is not the first time Mexican fans' celebrations have had a measurable impact. A similar event was reported in 2018 following a goal scored by Hirving Lozano. The repeated occurrences have led to discussions about the passionate atmosphere created by Mexican supporters during major soccer events.

While the ground movement was significant enough to be detected by seismographs, it is distinct from a natural earthquake and posed no structural threat to the stadium.
