Mexican fans attempted to disrupt the England national football team's sleep by gathering outside their hotel late at night with loud music, horns, and drums. However, an England security official stated that these efforts had minimal impact on the squad ahead of a crucial World Cup match.

Despite the noisy demonstrations, which began around midnight local time and involved approximately 50 fans, a heavy police presence maintained a significant distance. Around 300 officers were deployed, establishing a perimeter that kept fans approximately 500 meters away from the five-star hotel. Riot shields and helmets were utilized by the security forces.

"They're used to playing for Real Madrid, Barcelona and the biggest Premier League clubs," the security official told Daily Mail Sport. "This isn't their first experience of something like this." He added that some players face more hostile atmospheres in domestic league matches.

England's security team confirmed that players were provided with earplugs as a precaution and that their rooms were assigned facing away from the street where fans congregated. The official described the players as finding the spectacle "amusing rather than intimidating," and suggested their focus had been sharpened by the events.

Reports indicate that riot police and local authorities eventually intervened, moving a larger group of approximately 200 fans further away from the hotel entrance, which helped to calm the situation. The official commended the Mexican authorities, describing them as "incredibly helpful" throughout England's stay.

This incident echoed similar events earlier in the tournament when Ecuador players reportedly faced disruption from Mexican fans outside their hotel before a match. In that instance, the Ecuador Football Association lodged an official complaint, leading FIFA to move England to a different hotel. However, the security official downplayed England's arrival at the hotel earlier in the week, calling the process "very smooth" and stating that the media attention afterward surprised the traveling party as they did not consider the scenes out of the ordinary.

The team remains confident that their preparations for the knockout stage match have not been compromised.
