Mexico supporters attempted to disrupt England's sleep before their World Cup last-16 match by playing music and setting off fireworks near the team's hotel in Mexico City, but their efforts appeared to have little effect on the players. Police intervened to move the fans back from the hotel premises.

This incident followed a noise complaint lodged by Ecuador with FIFA after their match against Mexico, where fans allegedly used loudspeakers, motorbikes, and horns to disturb Ecuador's rest. Increased security measures were in place around the England team's hotel, with police lining the streets.

On Saturday, as the England squad departed for training, they were met by a mix of cheers and jeers from fans. England manager Thomas Tuchel, however, downplayed concerns about the team's treatment in Mexico, describing the atmosphere as "nicer" than anticipated and the home fans as "friendly and respectful."

The World Cup match between Mexico and England was scheduled to take place at the Azteca Stadium on Sunday evening local time. Early indications from the England camp suggest that the fans' attempts to disturb the players' sleep had minimal impact.
