Messi Reaches 100 Inter Miami Goals in Campeones Cup Final Victory

Lionel Messi achieved a significant milestone, scoring his 100th goal for Inter Miami in the team's 2-0 victory over Cruz Azul in the Campeones Cup final on Wednesday night. Casemiro also found the back of the net, sealing the win for Miami.

Messi opened the scoring in the 24th minute with a header, assisted by Luis Suárez. This goal, his 100th in 115 appearances across all competitions for Miami, came against the same opponent where he scored his very first goal for the club in July 2023. His debut goal for Miami was a stoppage-time free kick that secured a 2-1 win over Cruz Azul.

Casemiro extended Miami's lead in the 81st minute, scoring on a header from a Messi corner. This marks the Brazilian midfielder's fourth goal in his last five matches, all of which have been headers. Prior to this streak, Casemiro had scored in three consecutive games against CF Montreal, Atlanta United, and Chicago, but was held scoreless against Nashville last Saturday.

The victory adds another trophy to Inter Miami's collection, earned since Messi's arrival. The team previously won the Leagues Cup in 2023, the Supporters' Shield in 2024, and the MLS Cup in 2025.
