Manchester City has reached an agreement with Nottingham Forest to sign England midfielder Elliot Anderson for a deal potentially worth up to a British record £130 million. Anderson is expected to undergo a medical examination before finalizing his move to the Etihad Stadium.

Nottingham Forest had reportedly held out for such a fee, having previously rejected two offers from Manchester City. If finalized at the reported valuation, the transfer would surpass the £125 million Liverpool paid Newcastle for striker Alexander Isak in the summer of 2023.

Personal terms for Anderson are not anticipated to be a significant obstacle, and there was a prevailing confidence that a deal would be concluded once Manchester City submitted a third bid. Forest is reportedly exploring midfield reinforcements, with interests in Lucas Bergvall of Tottenham and Davide Frattesi from Inter Milan, and is expected to sign two midfielders this summer.

Anderson, 23, is currently preparing for England's final Group L match at the World Cup against Panama. He recently told BBC Sport that he has been focusing on the tournament and has put discussions about his club future aside. "It's pretty easy really, I'm just focusing on the present, I'm blocking it all out," Anderson stated. "I've got a plan and it's to perform for England. I'm putting myself in the best position to cross the line and do that."

Anderson joined Nottingham Forest for £35 million from Newcastle in 2024. He has made 88 appearances for Forest, scoring four goals. During his time with the club, he contributed to their seventh-place finish in the Premier League in the 2024-25 season and a 16th-place finish last season. Forest also reached the Europa League semi-finals last season.
