Sean Manaea’s recent pitching struggles continued Thursday night as the New York Mets fell to the Milwaukee Brewers 8-2 in the rubber game of their three-game series. Manaea allowed six earned runs, his highest total since late April, and failed to complete the sixth inning. The loss was punctuated by a dominant performance from Brewers’ pitcher Jacob Misiorowski. Manaea surrendered two runs in each of the first two innings and continued to falter throughout the game. By the time he was removed in the sixth, his earned run average had climbed to 4.55, its highest point since late July. This marks his third consecutive start allowing at least four earned runs. Misiorowski, meanwhile, stifled the Mets' offense for much of the game. The right-hander, who boasts a league-low 1.73 ERA, did not allow a hit until the fifth inning. He finished the night having yielded just two hits, walked two batters, and struck out six, improving his record to 14-5. This outing was his 21st of the season holding opponents to two earned runs or fewer. The Brewers' offense was led by Jackson Chourio, who had a significant impact on the game. Chourio singled and scored in the first inning, then hit a two-run home run in the second to give Milwaukee an early 4-0 lead. He added another single and scored in the fifth, and hit his second home run of the night in the eighth off Mets reliever Xzavion Curry. The Mets managed to score their only runs in the fifth inning. Jared Young broke up Misiorowski’s no-hit bid with a single that drove in Luis Robert Jr. Three batters later, Christopher Morel singled home Young. However, the Mets’ offensive momentum was short-lived, as Joey Ortiz led off the sixth inning with a triple and scored Milwaukee’s sixth run against Manaea. After winning the series opener, the Mets were outscored 16-3 over the final two games of the series. Milwaukee's pitching and hitting proved superior throughout the latter half of the set, securing their series victory.
