The inquest into the death of footballer Maddy Cusack has been adjourned for five months due to the submission of new medical evidence, extending the wait for her family.
The hearing, which began on June 30 at Chesterfield Coroner's Court, was midway through proceedings when the adjournment was announced. It is now scheduled to resume in December.
Cusack, the former Sheffield United Women vice-captain, was found dead at her home in Horsley, Derbyshire, on September 20, 2023. She was 27 years old. The inquest commenced nearly three years after her death.
The Cusack family had expressed a desire for the inquest to conclude this week, but the new evidence, understood to be of a medical nature, along with further family submissions, has led to the delay.
Jonathan Morgan, a manager, has defended his relationship with Cusack and denied claims made against him during the proceedings at Chesterfield Coroner's Court.
