Former Carolina Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly is set to become Netflix’s primary NFL game analyst for the upcoming season, according to a Tuesday report by The Athletic. Kuechly, a seven-time Pro Bowl selection and future Hall of Famer, will work alongside Noah Eagle, who is expected to be Netflix’s play-by-play announcer.
The pair demonstrated immediate chemistry during an audition earlier this month, The Athletic reported.
Netflix is expanding its NFL broadcast slate this season. The streaming service, which has broadcast two Christmas Day games in each of the past two seasons, will now air a total of five games. This includes a Week 1 matchup in Australia, a Thanksgiving Eve game, and a Week 18 Saturday game, in addition to its continuing Christmas Day coverage.
Kuechly’s NFL broadcasting experience includes serving as a radio analyst for the Panthers since 2022. He also appeared on ESPN2’s “MNF Playbook with Next Gen Stats” late last season and launched the “JJ and Luke” podcast with teammate J.J. Jansen in February.
Kuechly retired after the 2019 season, citing the effects of concussions. He will still call 12 Carolina Panthers games this season in his role as a radio analyst, according to the team.
Netflix will begin its NFL coverage on September 10 with a game between the Los Angeles Rams and the San Francisco 49ers in Melbourne, Australia.
