Luis García Jr. announced his arrival to the New York Yankees with a crucial two-run home run in the seventh inning of his debut game against the St. Louis Cardinals on Monday. The blast temporarily gave the Yankees a 7-6 lead, capping a significant comeback from an early 6-0 deficit.

The Yankees acquired García Jr. from the Nationals on Sunday, a move aimed at bolstering an offense currently without key players like Aaron Judge, Cody Bellinger, and Giancarlo Stanton. Manager Aaron Boone commented on the new addition, stating, "he rakes."

Prior to joining the Yankees, García Jr. had a .560 slugging percentage, leading the National League, and had already hit 23 home runs in 104 games for the Nationals this season. His 24th home run of the year, hit in his first game with New York, certainly made a strong first impression.
