The Los Angeles Angels have fired general manager Perry Minasian during his sixth season with the team. The franchise confirmed the decision in a statement released shortly before the team's game against the Athletics.

Minasian joined the Angels in 2020, but the team failed to make the playoffs in each of his five full seasons at the helm. The Angels announced that John Mozeliak has been appointed as Baseball Operations Consultant and will serve as interim General Manager. Mozeliak will oversee daily baseball operations, develop a baseball operations strategy, and assist in the search for a new permanent General Manager.

This season, the Angels are seven games behind the AL West leader and hold one of the worst records in the American League by win percentage. During Minasian's tenure, the team compiled a record of 392-500, extending their playoff drought to eleven consecutive seasons.

Prior to his role with the Angels, Minasian worked as a scout for the Texas Rangers and Toronto Blue Jays, and later served as an assistant general manager for the Atlanta Braves.
