LIV Golf is reportedly facing liquidation after BC Partners, an investment firm that was set to provide up to $300 million for the league's next phase, withdrew its funding offer. The Financial Times reported that BC Partners based its decision on concerns that LIV Golf would not have enough players for the upcoming year.
The rebel golf league, which launched in 2022 with significant backing from Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF), has seen its financial future imperiled. The PIF had previously pulled its funding earlier this year, prompting LIV to seek new investment.
Several high-profile golfers were lured to LIV with substantial contracts, including Bryson DeChambeau, Jon Rahm, Brooks Koepka, and Phil Mickelson. However, the league has experienced player departures, with Koepka rejoining the PGA Tour and Rahm recently confirming his exit from LIV. These developments may indicate a difficult road ahead for LIV Golf's continued operation.
