New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel has responded with surprising indifference to the upcoming return of former star quarterback Tom Brady to Foxborough.
Brady is slated to be in attendance for the Patriots' game against the Green Bay Packers this weekend, coinciding with the induction of Rob Gronkowski into the Patriots Hall of Fame.
When asked about the prospect of interacting with Brady, Vrabel stated, "I'm required contractually to catch up with him at some point." He further elaborated, "I'm sure it'll be a Zoom. I'm sure they won't show up here. I'm sure it will be Zoom. So, yep, that's contractually I'll be talking to him. And I'm sure I'll see him at Gronk's induction on Saturday."
The reason for Vrabel's tepid response remains unclear. One possible explanation is Brady's recent acquisition of part ownership in the Las Vegas Raiders, an AFC rival. Another factor could be Brady's public statement prior to last season's Super Bowl, where he declared he "don't have a dog in the fight" regarding the Patriots' participation.
Brady, who spent the majority of his NFL career with the Patriots and won three Super Bowls with the team, acknowledged that returning to Foxborough will be an emotional experience. He expressed his excitement about revisiting the stadium, recalling numerous memorable moments and significant games. Brady also spoke about conveying the essence of the Patriots' successful program to the fans without making it about himself.
