LIV Golf's planned relaunch appears to have collapsed as BC Partners Credit has withdrawn its $300 million investment after failing to secure commitments from prominent players. The league had been seeking new funding after its initial backing from the Saudi Public Investment Fund was reduced earlier this year, leading to an early end of its 2026 season.

According to the Financial Times, BC Partners set a deadline for LIV Golf to demonstrate sufficient player support for a 2027 league, a condition that was not met. The Sports Business Journal cited a source indicating that "None of the big names signed," including notable golfers such as Bryson DeChambeau, Dustin Johnson, Joaquin Niemann, and Cameron Smith.

The Athletic reports that the league is now expected to proceed with a complete wind-down and cease operations entirely. The liquidation process is slated to begin in a New Jersey bankruptcy court on Thursday.

In recent weeks, several high-profile golfers publicly announced they would not participate in the new league, including Jon Rahm, Tyrrell Hatton, and Sergio Garcia. Only four players—Cameron Tringale, Richard Bland, Brendan Steele, and Ben Campbell—had publicly committed to the relaunch.

Earlier reports quoted BC chief Ted Goldthorpe emphasizing the critical role of players, stating, "The players are everything. They're our partners and they're very, very important to our future." DeChambeau had recently expressed optimism about the relaunch, telling the 'Figuring Out' podcast that the new model could "make full financial sense" and create a league that "exists forever," while acknowledging past management issues with the original Saudi-funded structure.
