LIV Golf has canceled its Team Championships originally scheduled for August in Michigan, citing the need to focus on "building its next chapter." This decision follows weeks of speculation about the event's feasibility, particularly as several players committed to competing in the British Masters during the same dates.

The tournament in Indianapolis will now serve as the final event of the current season and will also function as a team competition. The altered schedule comes after Saudi Arabia withdrew its financial backing for the league in April, creating uncertainty about its future.

LIV Golf CEO Scott O'Neil stated that the league is shifting its full resources towards its next phase, which includes securing new investors. He described plans to reimagine LIV Golf as a player-owned league with a sustainable business model and an evolved fan experience tailored to growing markets globally. O'Neil also noted that professional golf is currently more unified than at any point since LIV's inception, presenting an opportunity for collaborative growth.

"By concluding the season now, we can put our full resources behind what comes next and maintain the operational rigor this transition demands," O'Neil said in a statement. "We are reimagining LIV Golf as a fundamentally new league owned by the players and anchored in a sustainable business model, with an evolved fan experience built for the markets where the game is growing fastest across the globe and the support of world-class partners."

He added, "Professional golf is more unified today than at any point since we launched, creating a genuine opportunity to grow the game together. Indianapolis will be a fitting finale for the league as fans have known it and the starting point for what we believe it can become."
